AATF - Minnesota French Teacher of the Year 2025 - 2026 Nominations

The executive board of the AATF – Minnesota is seeking nominations for the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year award. A description of the minimum requirements and the timeline is below.

As French education is being scrutinized by many principals, school boards, and governing bodies at universities, we see teachers who go beyond what is required of them to highlight the many reasons our subject area remains an important offering to our students. As a French teacher, you often have students for multiple years. You have formed relationships with them that teachers in other subject areas do not have an opportunity to do. All of this is what you do so naturally and you deserve to be recognized for it.

Please consider nominating a colleague from your building or another program or self-nominating (no one will know that you were the nominator) by completing the survey form below.

AATF - Minnesota Teacher of the Year Requirements

The AATF – Minnesota Teacher of the Year program recognizes a consistent record of outstanding instruction and leadership in French education. Eligible candidates are those

  1. at the pre-kindergarten through post-secondary levels;

  2. from public, charter, or private schools;

  3. with at least three years of full-time teaching experience;

  4. who are members of the AATF;

  5. who are not currently members of the AATF - Minnesota executive board.

Candidates may be nominated by a fellow colleague (teacher, administrator, or staff member), a parent or guardian, a student(s), or other adults who are familiar with the candidate’s teaching and contributions to French education or, because many schools are made-up of one French teacher department, be self-nominated. Nominations are due by Friday, September 19, 2025

After being nominated, the candidate will receive an email from the AATF – Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award's Committee chair asking if the candidate would like to accept the nomination. If accepted, the candidate must submit the following documents:

1.     A letter of recommendation from an administrator or fellow teacher.

2.     A letter of recommendation from a current or former parent or student.

3.     A curriculum vitae of no more than five pages.

4.     A professional photo.

The candidate’s dossier must be completed by Friday, October 17, 2025.

The chosen teacher will be announced shortly after the October due date.

On behalf of the AATF – Minnesota Executive Board, we encourage you to nominate a deserving teacher who would be honored by this prestigious award.
